how do synchronized neural firings and synaptic transmissions produce experiential qualia, emotions or free will? Physicalists believe this to be relatively straightforward (brain = mind = computer) however others find the question intractable, or as vexing as trying to coax a reluctant genie from a magic lamp. I see three problems with the brain = mind = computer analogy:

Is consciousness classical computation? In a controversial stance Roger Penrose^1-3 has asserted that essential aspects of consciousness are non-computable. But regardless, classical computers appear to be evolving toward quantum computers. Beginning in the early 1980's Benioff, Feynman and others proposed that states in a system - bits in a computer - could interact while in quantum superposition of all possible states, effecting near-infinite parallel computation. Rather than classical Boolean bit states 1 or 0, quantum computers would utilize interactive "qubits" of 1 and 0. If quantum computers can ever be constructed they will have huge advantages in important applications. As the brain/mind has always been cast as current information technology, consciousness may inevitably be seen as some form of quantum computation.
Are neural firings the "fine grain" of consciousness? Cells and synapses are far more complex than simple onoff switches. Consider the paramecium, a single cell organism which gracefully swims, avoids predators, learns to escape from capillary tubes, and finds food and mates. Observing intelligent behavior in unicellular creatures C.S. Sherrington said in 1951: "Of nerve there is no trace. But the cell framework, the cyto-skeleton, might serve." Lacking synapses, paramecium utilizes its cytoskeleton for communication and organization. Neurons have a rich and dynamic set of cytoskeletal microtubules which regulates synapses, and tremendously increases potential computational capacity (e.g. 10¹⁶ bit states/second/neuron)⁴. More importantly, neurons are alive and we don't yet know what that implies for consciousness.
Details which don't fit the brain = mind = computer scheme are overlooked.

For example:
Neurotransmitter vesicle release and cognitive reaction times are "noisy", and exhibit apparent probabilistic randomness (?noncomputable quantum indeterminacy⁵).
Axonal firing patterns (rather than average frequency) and dendriticdendritic processing may be relevant to consciousness⁶.
Apart from chemical synapses, primitive electrotonic gap junctions couple neurons and glia synchronously and may play an important role in consciousness.
Glial cells (80% of the brain) are ignored in the brainascomputer view.

Quibbling aside, the physicalist view fails to address difficult issues. For example the problem of 'binding' in vision and self is often attributed to temporal correlation (e.g. coherent 40 Hz), but it is unclear why temporal correlation per se should bind experience without an explanation of experience. Regarding transition from preconscious or implicit processing to consciousness itself, the physicalist view sees emergence at a critical level of neural-level computational complexity. But no conscious threshold is apparent, nor is there a reasonable suggestion why such an emergent property should have conscious experience. As physicalism is based on deterministic computation, it is also unable to account for free will or Penrose's proposed noncomputability. But the major problem remains experience, for which physicalism offers no testable predictions. Something is missing.

There are two basic types of string theories: those with closed string loops that can break into open strings and those with closed string loops that can't break into open strings. String theory is a model of fundamental physics whose building blocks are one-dimensional extended objects (strings) rather than the zero-dimensional points (particles) that are the basis of the Standard Model of particle physics. For this reason, string theories are able to avoid problems associated with the presence of point-like particles in theories of physics, in particular the problem of defining a sensible quantum theory of gravity. Studies of string theories have revealed that they predict not just strings, but also higher-dimensional objects. String theories are classified according to whether or not the strings are required to be closed loops, and whether or not the particle spectrum includes fermions. In order to include fermions in string theory, there must be a special kind of symmetry called supersymmetry, which means for every boson (particle that transmits a force) there is a corresponding fermion (particle that makes up matter). So supersymmetry relates the particles that transmit forces to the particles that make up matter.

Quantum fields are well-known to violate all the pointwise energy conditions of classical general relativity. 'Invoking a new paradigm is not too radical since since the prevailing model of physical reality has regularly undergone paradigm shifts and this has always involved moving ever further from our common-sense notion of reality. The standard dichotomy between matter and mind arose at a time when one could adopt the simplistic view that the arena of reality is 3-dimensional space. However, since then the physicist's world-view has changed profoundly and it is clear that our physical sensory systems reveal only a very limited aspect of reality. In particular, General Relativity explains gravity by proposing that the world is 4-dimensional and Kaluza-Klein theory explains electromagnetism by adding a fifth dimension; this is wrapped up so small that it cannot be observed directly but its existence neatly explains Maxwell's equations.'*

Modern extensions of this idea propose that the other physical interactions can be accounted for by invoking further wrapped-up dimensions. In "M-theory", for example, the total number of dimension is 11, while in the "superstring" theory it is 10. One thus has an 4-dimensional "external" space and a 6 or 7-dimensional "internal" space. In the most recent variant of this idea, proposed by Randall and Sundrum, the extra dimensions may not even be compactified and the physical Universe is regarded as 4-dimensional "brane" in a higher dimensional "bulk". This is very far removed from the naive view of reality adopted by the sort of reductionist materialists who reject psychic phenomena out of hand.

Perhaps an example from modern physics may help make better sense of this. "String Theory" posits that the all the fundamental particles in nature are constituted by strings vibrating in nine-dimensional space. As Brian Greene explains:

Just as a violin string can vibrate in different patterns, each of which produces a different musical tone, the filaments of superstring theory can also vibrate in different patterns.

But these vibrations don't produce different musical notes; remarkably, the theory claims that they produce different particle properties. A tiny string vibrating in one pattern would have the mass and the electric charge of an electron; according to the theory, such a vibrating string would be what we have traditionally called an electron. A tiny string vibrating in a different pattern would have the requisite properties to identify it as a quark, a neutrino, or any other kind of particle.

Thus String Theory claims that the vibrating string is an electron because it has all the properties of an electron. My theory of consciousness claims that a subject who is creating the appropriate activity in a reverberating circuit in his brain is having a red sensation because he has all the properties of a subject having a red sensation.
Well, perhaps both these ideas are hard to grasp. But it's not clear that the latter is necessarily so much harder than the former.

Reluctant revelation of Quantum nature of energy transfer by Planck and discovery of Uncertainty Principle by Heisenberg, broke the mechanistic and predictable world view on which science was built. Scientist failed to develop a consistent and sensible view of nature on which they can build and explore nature. However human instinct to exploit conquer and corrupt nature prevailed as scientist joined hands to develop a new language [ Statistic and Probability] to exploit matter. Quantum Mechanics came at a price of sacrificing the reality of nature. The field now became open for physicist, biologist, meta-physicist, mystics, spiritualists ---- The consequence was disordered world that gave rise to multitude of information or knowledge, that sharpened human conquering motive and corruption in the absence of a Central Information that can control and guide the whole. To put it in the language of non linear scientist's led by Noble Laurat Ilya Prigogine - Human quest for Knowledge came to a bifurcation point and entered a chaotic path. In other words Human quest reached a boiling point where a phase change has became inevitable.

The Great Question Now is

1] To where is the chaos leading the world to? is there any hope for Humanity? If so How is it Going to come? Will there be a Great Attractor around which everything collapses spontaneously into a new order.

2] Or as Quantum scientist think, is there an observer outside whose observation reveals the reality of nature.

3] Or as the religious science thinks, is there a God who is coming to Judge and initialize the world back into order. Will Jesus Return to Reveal Again or Shiva open His third Eye to burn everything and create new.

Or all the above question is simply different faces one aspect of survival of life and information?

No body can dispute the fact that mankind’s intervention on nature is changing the face of the earth. The system design notes that universal system is a dynamic system and is a determined one. It moves in two phases a winding phase to the center and an unwinding phase to the outside. The system design advocates a Living Universe with earth as the heart and sun as the brain. It notes that just as an ECG will describe the state of the heart and danger to the human system, the activities in the sun becomes an indication about what is going to come to earth and the whole. This wave as it reaches to certain peak is bound to collapse to give way to a new order. The wave seems to have peaked. Scientists have noted alarming change in the solar system. The dominant west because of its economic concern seems to close its eyes to these alarming trends. What it is failing to understand is that foundation of economy is life and what is at risk is Human life.The great conclusion of the system design is that Universal Consciousness and Universal Intelligence control the whole system. The time and death to the whole universe comes from individuated consciousness and intelligence that exist in ignorance. In other words, the whole system tends to the limit to the center and periphery by human conquering motive and corruption. The instinct of the system wishes that the whole remain around the equilibrium point [see fig below - dotted circle] but by design the individuated system tends to the limits to the center and periphery [death points]. At this point the Universal Consciousness and Universal Intelligence is forced to recreate and initialize the system. At the center the Universal intelligence goes recessive to the Universal Consciousness such that renewal process can go on. As the universal system is pushed to the outer limit the Universal Intelligence takes control to initialize time

At the Edge of Reality: Quantum State Reduction and Consciousness
Quantum theory describes the bizarre wave/particle duality of energy and matter at very small scales. The behavior is so strange that the American physicist Richard Feynman once commented "anyone who claims to understand quantum theory is either lying or crazy."

Strange as it is, quantum theory offers features which may be relevant to consciousness. One is that large collections of quantum particle/waves can merge into unitary coherent states of macroscopic size and influence. Superconductors, BoseEinstein condensates and lasers are unitary states in which component atoms or molecules give up individual identity and behavior. Such coherent quantum states have been suggested to occur among brain proteins to provide unitary "binding" in vision and sense of self11,12.

Another feature involves "quantum superposition." Components of isolated small scale systems can exist in different states or locations simultaneously. This is contrary to our perceived macroscopic world in which objects have well defined positions and are decidedly concrete. The problem is the transition-why and how do microscopic quantum superposed states become classical and definite in the macro-world? This problem is called quantum state reduction, or collapse of the wave function, and it may be the key to both consciousness and reality.

Experimental evidence in the early part of this century led great theorists Bohr, Heisenberg and Wigner to conclude (the "Copenhagen interpretation") that objects remain in wave-like quantum superposition until observed by a conscious human being-consciousness causes collapse of the wave function! To illustrate the apparent absurdity of this conclusion, in the 1930's Schrodinger devised his famous thought experiment Schrodinger's cat. A living cat is placed in a box into which poison can be released by a quantum event, e.g., sending a photon through a half-silvered mirror. So after the photon has been sent there are equal possibilities that the cat is either dead or alive. But according to the Copenhagen interpretation until a conscious being opens the box to observe, the cat is both dead and alive. Schrodinger's point was that the conscious observer interpretation was incorrect.

Many physicists now believe that intermediate between tiny quantum-scale systems and "large" cat-size systems some objective factor disturbs the superposition to cause collapse, or "objective reduction (OR)." According to Roger Penrose2,13 this objective factor is an intrinsic feature of spacetime itself (quantum gravity). As mass is equivalent to spacetime curvature, Penrose begins with the notion that quantum superpositionactual separation (displacement) of mass from itself is equivalent to simultaneous spacetime curvatures in opposite directions, causing "bubbles," or separations in fundamental reality (Figure 1b). Penrose reasons that these bubble-like separations are unstable and reduce to specific states and locations after a critical degree of separation. If proto-conscious experience is rooted in the Planck scale, then objective reductions (Whitehead's occasions of experience) may ripple through an experiential medium.

Could OR events occur in the brain? The critical spacetime separation precipitating Penrose's OR is given by the uncertainty principle E=h/T. E is the energy of the superposed mass, h is Planck's constant over 2pi, and T is the coherence time until reduction. The size (and energy) of a superposed system (degree of spacetime separation) is inversely related to the time T until selfcollapse. If isolated, a large system (e.g. Schrodinger's one kilogram cat) will undergo OR very quickly, e.g. in only 10-37 seconds. A small system such as a single isolated superposed atom would undergo OR only after 107 years. OR brain events would be linked to neural processes with T in the range of tens to hundreds of milliseconds (e.g. 25 msec intervals in coherent 40 Hz). For T=25 msec (40 Hz) OR events, E corresponds to roughly 3 nanograms (3 x 10-9 gram) of superposed brain mass.

Nanograms of what? Which biological structures could function as both classical and quantum computers, avoid environmental decoherence and couple to neural-level activities? Microtubules are the logical candidates.

Are Microtubules Quantum Computers? The PenroseHameroff "Orch OR" Model
Interiors of neurons and glia are functionally organized by webs of protein polymersthe cytoskeleton14. Its major components are microtubules, actin and intermediate filaments. Microtubules are selfassembling hollow cylinders whose walls are crystalline lattices of subunit proteins known as tubulin. Evidence links the neuronal cytoskeleton to cognitive functions, and theoretical models suggest interactive microtubule subunits function as molecular automata capable of nanosecond-scale computation (Figure 2a)4.

Roger Penrose and I have developed a model in which quantum superposition, objective reduction and quantum computation occur in microtubule automata within brain neurons and glia. Microtubuleassociatedproteins (MAPs) provide feedback and "tune" the quantum oscillations; the proposed OR is thus selforganized ("orchestrated" objective reduction"Orch OR")15-21. In the Orch OR model microtubule quantum computation is isolated from decoherence (Box 1) and continues until threshold is met (E=h/T) and an OR event occurs (Figure 2b). For example an OR event coinciding with one 40 Hz cycle (T = 25 msec) would require E = 2 x 1010 superposed tubulins (roughly 20,000 neurons).

Quantum computation in the Orch OR scheme differs from technological proposals in that superpositions in the latter will reduce to output states by environmental decoherencecomputation is terminated by intervention and choice of states has an element of randomness. On the other hand, in the Orch OR scheme isolated superpositions self-reduce due to instability in spacetime separation. The choice of outcome states, according to Penrose, is therefore neither completely deterministic nor random, but has an element of non-computabilityinfluenced by Platonic logic embedded in spacetime. Penrose has also suggested that aspects of human understanding and consciousness involve non-computability, a controversial and widely assailed claim. Although outnumbered by his critics, Penrose has thoroughly and systematically answered them3. Non-computability is a clue, a delicate thread with which to unravel the mystery of consciousness.

Each event selects (noncomputably) particular configurations of Planck-scale experiential geometry and corresponding classical states of microtubule automata which regulate synaptic/neural functions suggest sequences of discrete conscious events (e.g. at 40 Hz) can provide a "stream" of consciousness.

Heaven is not a different realm...

1) Whether it is named the Singularity or the Spike, the Transcendental Object at the End of Time or the New Jerusalem, the vision of humankind's mass transcension into a hyperdimensional state of being is a millennia-old archetype whose depths obstinately refuse to be fully plumbed. Like all abiding memes, it is a motif whose representations can vary a great deal in detail without losing their basic archetypal pattern. Today's prophesized Singularity (as commonly publicized by Vinge, Drexler, and Kurzweil, among many others) is no different. Though first catalyzed by an unparalleled technological leap, this metahistorical Spike promises to comprehensively and irrevocably transmogrify every mode in which we relate to our selves, each other, and the phenomenal world at large. Our sphere of influence will vastly deepen -- not only outer space, but inner space as well will be laid bare to the penetrative stare of innumerable nanites and foglets. We shall at last see as we have been seen, and will then be, courtesy of superhumanly intelligent and benignly spiritual machines, summarily remolded in the image of our greatest and wildest expectations.

The only significant precedent to such a mind-bending warp in consensual reality would have to be the resultant Utopia often foreseen as the coda to the various ‘end-times' scenarios of pious apocalypticists. Peering at length through the symphonic perversity of their feverish visions, we touch upon several key intimations regarding the ‘look' and ‘feel' of a post-historical planetary renovation -- visions which until recently have been either faithfully reverenced as gospel truth in spite of (or perhaps because of ) their seeming improbability, or alternatively scorned as hallucinogenic pipe-dreams. But when set alongside the forecasts of our contemporary futurists, these ancient allusions are sometimes startlingly similar to those foreseen today, and occasionally appear to describe the technologies of tomorrow in bold detail.

2) (Examples are plentiful and of varying extremes. The comparative overlap between these two seemingly disparate fields is remarkably large, should one choose to pursue it. I only wish here to outline a few of the more salient aspects.) To sketch a brief example -- the ‘Spirit of Healing' as foreseen in Zoroastrian traditions, which appeared to its forecasters as ‘a great stream of molten metal' through which everyone will be made to pass, in order to be ‘purified' for the transition to a new life in a paradisiacal ‘House of Song.' This purgative has again been prophesized today, in the form of a nanotechnological ‘swarm' that, once properly interfaced with the user, will eradicate biological impurities and augment his or her perceptions with neuromorphic stimulators, thus preparing and reprogramming the user for a life of longevity and transhuman magnificence. "Not only immortal, but eternally young," reads the Zoroastrian text, a passage which finds a much amplified echo in the contemporary assurances of the cryonics movement. "Once more endowed with bodies," we continue to read, "they will be able to experience the joys of the senses as well as those of the spirit."

Is this not a vision of a full-immersion Cyberspace -- a virtual theme-park of sensuality as well as a central repository of all the earth's accumulated wisdom? The Singularity, with all its attendant technological innovations in tow, also looms large in the chiliastic foresights of the Christian apocalypse. Its central motif, "the Holy City, New Jerusalem," which descends from ‘Heaven" in plain view of the entire human race; a City of pure gold, "bright as clear glass," adorned with jewels of every kind; a City that has "no need of the sun, neither of the moon to shine in it," but is lit instead by the "light" of a fully integrated Consciousness -- what is this if not the premature vision of a supercooled solid state Hypercube, the glittering golden mobilia prophesized by FM-2030, our future perfect hyperspatial home? A mystical model of sacred geometry covertly expressing the known proportions of the planet itself, the New Jerusalem represents a measuring-out of Heaven on Earth, the architecture of a macrocosmic temple into which all humankind enters to receive its final transformative quickening. Crossing this final threshold into the numinous Light of the great Beyond, the many millions of humankind will disassemble into a metamorphic Omegon unshackled from the outmoded mores of space and time. Our modern prescriptions for the Singularity thus form a significant -- and far more rewarding and technologically correct -- revision of the older eschatological models. These newer prototypes have their template in the earlier visions, however surcharged they may be with the theoretical promises of the mid twenty-first century. But whether seen through the blinders of tribal theism or through the google-eyed wonder of open source technology, the End promised by both the visionaries of yesterday and the futurists of today are one and the same -- a New Heaven and a New Earth.

3) The fact that there is a Singularity of one type or another expected by every long-lived memetic structure in human history seems to indicate that humankind was hardwired with a ‘Singularity code' from the start -- that it is an integral product of our forward evolution, an inescapable eventuality designed to fire at a crucial crossroads in the forward advance of our Collective Consciousness. In both ancient and contemporary reports of the looming Spike, the doom prophesized by the teleological transition instead gives place to the penultimate consummation of an age-long metamorphosis -- no ‘end' at all, but rather a new beginning, a ‘making wonderful', a second genesis.

This ‘new beginning,' the most crucial phase of the unfolding Singularity, is akin to a running process long obscured by an encryption scheme almost supernatural in its complexity -- soon to be unraveled and fully deciphered and downloaded by one and all as a sparkling new metahistorical operating system whose relative omniscience and omnipotence converge joyously upon the Divine. The Singularity is thus the quotient that the alchemical algorithm of Conscious evolution has all these millennia been struggling to resolve -- which is, how best to explode base matter into a meta-dimensional bloom of fully conscious hyperspatial adventure? Again, the much-expected and multi-faceted Singularity is the long-anticipated answer to life's primary impulse -- it only remains for the technological and teleological prowess of the Gaian Mind's leading prototype to unravel the remainder of the equation and, with these coordinates in hand, steer the Ark of Life to its transcendent destination in the sky.

4) The coming Singularity brings with it the promise of a new, more masterly emergence of Consciousness, one that promises to unify our fragmented selves into a tightly-woven telesphere of ubiquitously wetwired, mutually reflecting minds. The human psyche itself -- own personal node of the One (or Total) Consciousness of planetary humankind -- now unshackled from the pains and pleasures of its carbon-based interface, shall fuse with its silicon panacea and populate the very air we breath with the sentient sparkle of hyper-dimensional joie de vivre.

The New Heaven (as prophesized by the ancient apocalypticists) is the opening of this final frontier, the interstellar depths of the cosmos brought nearer to us by our needful willingness to venture out from our increasingly crowded home-world via the establishment of a meta-terrestrial Humankind, like so many branches spiraling out from a central seed. The New Earth is this very earth alchemically transmogrified into a crystalline Hub of hyperspatial Omni-Consciousness, the brute coal of our sun-kissed sphere at long last compressed into diamond clarity, now sought out by cosmic denizens near and far for the precious treasure we have become.

In the end, evolution on this planet will have been the growth of an immortal spark of Divinity from an invisible evolutionary lever to a hyperspatial Entity with complete mastery of space and time, having the ability to traverse any distance of interstellar space and deploy any number of men and women and children as ambassadors (or avatars) to other worlds. Reconciling the 2012 debate

The question of the Mayan calendar end date by Carl Johan Calleman

For some time now there has been a discussion going on as to what is the exact end date of the Mayan calendar. This debate was recently fueled by the rejection by Don Alejandro Oxlaj, head of the council of elders of the Maya, of the December 21, 2012 date promoted by archeologists. A newcomer to this field may be surprised at the aggressiveness this statement has been responded to at web pages such as the forum at Sacredroad.org or John Jenkins http://www.alignment2012.com/eldersand2012-exchange.html.

This aggressiveness, which by the way has been directed more against me than to Don Alejandro, who actually made the statement attests to the importance of the question and especially the understanding of the cosmic plan that lies underneath it. Hopefully Don Alejandro’s rejection (in no uncertain terms) of the December 21, 2012 end date will mean that some will dig deeper to understand the evolution of consciousness and make an attempt to understand what this end date really is based on. Yet, the fundamental issue at hand is not so much what is the actual end date of the Mayan calendar, but how we are to understand this calendar and its relationship to the cosmic plan. This is also why the end date question requires an open mind and even a fairly deep knowledge of Mayan calendrics to address. Those that promote the December 21, 2012 date almost invariably lack a model for understanding evolution based on the Mayan calendar and are instead placing all the importance on what will happen on one particular day; December 21, 2012. What they suggest for this date is typically an event in the sky or a pole shift, a comet that will hit the earth or some other physical or astronomical singular event. In my view the most absurd of these interpretations is probably a book that sets out to prove that this is the day when the world will come to an end because of a pole shift and there is nothing we can do about it (The Orion Prophecy).

For someone who does not have a scientific training and background its purported « mathematical proof » for this may even seem impressive. Those supporting the December 21, 2012 date, such as www.diagnosis2012.co.uk, prefer such depressing rubbish to an analysis of the evolution of consciousness, simply because it is consistent with the end date they propose. To them, the end date has become like a religion and if some author agrees with this anything goes. That representatives of the contemporary Maya reject this end date will then obviously not be popular among them as they do not attribute any meaning to the Mayan calendar apart from what may happen on this particular day. At a time when we may soon expect a much expanded interest in the meaning of the Mayan calendar such interpretations of an event taking place on a special date are obviously very much welcomed by the defenders of the established order for the simple reason that they do not imply that we need to participate in a process of evolution of consciousness. Moreover, if the Mayan calendar is only about an event that happens in the sky what else would there be to do other than sit and wait with arms crossed for this event to take place? Fortunately, for the serious student of the Mayan calendar system, it has a much greater richness than this and may help people understand both the past and the future and at the same time provide a meaningful spiritual context for life. Those defending the December 21, 2012 date however never link the Mayan calendar to a model for the evolution of consciousness and strongly oppose the very serious work that has been made to verify - literally a mountain of evidence - that it describes an ongoing evolution from the Big Bang until the present time. One of the conclusions that we may draw from this body of evidence is that in the next few years we may expect a downfall of all hierarchical structures and especially those that are based on Western dominance of the world. Another prediction is that the rule of darkness in the time period November 19, 2007 to November 13, 2008, will be a very oppressive period exerted by exactly those forces that will make their last desperate attempt to maintain their dominance of the world. If this time period is confused with a period of light many people will go along with it in the same way as happened when this very same energy ruled the world, and especially Germany, during the era 1932-1952. It then seems obvious that the ruling circles of our planet do not want this information to reach the broader public and the defenders of the December 21, 2012 date that deny that we are living in an ongoing evolution of consciousness are playing directly into their hands. When the reaction comes in November of 2007 the ruling elite, primarily based in the US, would much rather have people think that nobody should be able to question their rule and that spiritual freedom is impossible. In that time the proponents of the December 21, 2012 date will come in very handy for the rulers and all ideas that the Mayan calendar describes an evolution towards oneness and balance will be suppressed. Of course, these statements are not based on some divine revelation, but with analogies that associate this time period with corresponding destructive eras in the past. The primary reason that the end date is important is in my view that it strongly colors our perception of the present and the immediate time ahead. Would it not be because the question of the end date is important for the present and how people will understand the upcoming energies of Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca I would see no reason to discuss it, especially not considering all the negative projections - far from a spirit of oneness - that it seems to give rise to among some. It is at the present time very important to discuss the upcoming energies of Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca, but the December 21 people are trying to sweep it under the rug. Hence, the issue of the end date is not so much a question of the particular date we favor, but what philosophy we adhere to and what vision of the world we would like to promote. Those denying the existence of a cosmic time plan leading towards a state of oneness have nothing to offer but the status quo and those seems to be the very people that are obsessed by being right about the December 21 end date. To them, the most important argument in favor of the December 21, 2012 date seems to be that there is agreement among the archeologists about it and hence no one should question it. But since modern archeologists approach the Mayan calendar as a superstition to begin with how could they possibly know when the completion date of the divine process of creation would be? The divine plan is not their field of study. Only someone who sets out to understand how the Mayan calendar describes the cosmic plan would be able to arrive at the correct end date for this.

To grasp the origin of this end date it needs first to be pointed out that there is a fundamental misunderstanding among modern people about the Mayan Long Count. This misunderstanding is that the ancient Maya devised this calendar by targeting a particular end date. Although this may seem exciting to ourselves as we are living in that time it simply is not correct. The inscriptions from the ancient Maya in fact exclusively deal with describing the beginning of the Long Count, the creation date, which was set at August 11, 3114. The Mayan royalty living some 3500 years later sought to legitimize their positions by tracing their ancestry back to the beginning of this creation and wanted to understand this creation that their power was based on. Only those that have studied Mayan calendrics in some depth will know that the inscriptions deal with the creation date and not with the end date. The exact placement of this beginning date of the Long Count falls on the date that the sun was in zenith in Izapa, where the Long Count most likely was devised. Hence we have every reason to believe that it was this solar zenith day that its ending date was based on. The end date of the Long Count will simply fall exactly 1.872.000 days after this zenith date, which places it at December 21, 2012. Hence, the end date touted by the archeologists, December 21, 2012, directly depends on the fact that the people living in Izapa at the time thought of August 11, the date the sun was in zenith in their own particular temple city, as a holy day. Because of its zenith character it had probably for a long time been regarded as a day « when time began », as indeed it meant the beginning of a yearly cycle that determined the changing seasons in that location. From a wider perspective the problem with this beginning date is then that it lacks relevance to the world at large. Why would this zenith date, which the beginning of the Long Count is set at, matter to people living in other locations than Izapa (or on the same latitude)? Well, it obviously does not play a role for people living in other parts of the world, and is simply based on the desire of the Izapans to emphasize their own particular location and tradition. Hence, believing that the energetic beginning of the Long Count falls on the day that « time began » in Izapa is like believing that Jesus was actually born on Christmas Day.

The parallel is that in both cases an older tradition, the pagan midwinter solstice in the case of the Christians, which was not related to what really was to be celebrated, was simply taken over by a new calendrical tradition. That such an ancient established highly localized tradition of the importance of the solar zenith in Izapa now seems to dominate the perception of some currently interested in the Mayan calendar and so the modern proponents of the December 21, 2012 date are stuck in the same established tradition as the ancient Izapans were. Thus, to many of them it is not permitted for a scientist to broaden his perspective or question something that the archeologists all seem to agree upon. One might wonder where science would be today if such local traditions would never have been questioned. In my view, it is the task of science to arrive at an increasingly holistic understanding of the world and being stuck in a local tradition (even if it is Mayan or proto-Mayan) prevents the emergence of an understanding of the cosmic plan that is relevant to our entire planet.

The second reason that we may understand the December 21, 2012 date to be wrong is that it falls on the tzolkin day 4 Ahau, since this is not a completion energy. It must fall on a date that is 13 Ahau, since this is the tzolkin energy towards which all the tzolkin energies are moving. This may be a more difficult argument to grasp than that the beginning of the traditional Long Count is based on a local tradition. To realize that the actual end date must fall on an energy that is a 13 Ahau date essentially requires of someone that he or she for a relatively long time have followed exclusively the true tzolkin count. Only in that way would one be able to personally experience the energy shifts, and unfortunately not so many people do that. If people mix two different counts that we may be certain that there is too much confusion for the actual energy shifts to be felt. Yet, it is important to know that Don Alejandro speaks about a prophecy of the return of 13 Ahau that seems to have survived through the ages. Carlos Cedillo also alerted me to a passage in the Book of Chilam Balam of Chumayel that describes the energy of 13 Ahau as follows: « Holy completion of time, truly » - a statement not found regarding any other tzolkin energy in these prophetic Mayan books written a few hundred years ago. From a knowledge of the tzolkin it simply seems logical that the true Mayan calendar should end on a day that has the energy of 13 Ahau. The placement of the end date of this creation at the particular 13 Ahau energy of October 28, 2011 is supported by what seems to be a correction made in Palenque to the original Izapan Long Count several hundred years later.

Most likely the priests of Palenque, who obviously meticulously followed the true tzolkin count then started to feel that there was something wrong with the correlation between the Izapan Long Count and the tzolkin. (Since they were living in Palenque they were not attached to or tuned in to the Izapan solstice date). The correction that they hinted at was however not implemented as a change of the Izapan Long Count because of the forbidding consequences. (Somebody who doubts that should consider how easy it would be to change the Gregorian calendar if the date of birth of Jesus was determined with absolute certainty). Such a change would not have been possible because of the enormous role that the Long Count had in legitimizing the rule of the Palenquean dynasty and providing stability to its society. Hence, its priests could only hint that the Izapan Long Count missed the mark by 420 days. Hence, you might say that the Palenquean priests around AD 600 began to feel something that is similar to what many are beginning to feel today. This is that there is something wrong with the December 21, 2012 end date of the Long Count.

This experience will only increase in the years to come at least among those that are not content with repeating what other people are saying and who actually are able themselves to experience the wave movement of divine creation towards the state of oneness. And it is to those that I am primarily addressing myself, because it is those that may craft the path that the divine plan seems to be laying out for us. I am not primarily addressing myself to those for whom it is more important to be right about a date than to facilitate the spiritual future of humanity. In this context I would also like to point out that many people have a strong intuitive sense that the year 2012 will mean something special. This intuitive sense is fully consistent with the October 28, 2011 date, since if the divine process of creation is completed on that day it will indeed be the year 2012 that will usher the great change. If instead the completion of divine creation would fall on the Izapan end date, December 21, 2012, it would be the year 2013 that would harvest the change. Intuitively, most seem to favor the 2012 date and I feel this promises that as we come closer people will increasingly be drawn to the energetically correct end date, October 28, 2011. History is a set of nested resonances with each epoch being shorter than the one that preceded it. This event horizon is like a series of ghost horizons, and once you enter into history, you enter into the outer shell of the temporal field of the attractor or the concrescence. In other words, history is the disturbance in nature which precedes the concrescence. It precedes it by only 50 thousand years--a geological microsecond--before all life is melted down in the presence of the singularity. History is a curious interzone that is not the singularity and not the absence of the singularity; it's the singularity in the act of becoming. It only lasts a geological microsecond, but if you happen to be born as we are, inside that microsecond, then you have a very curious perspective on the phenomenon because you observe it from inside.

Astronomical Myth is a "picture language," imagery that articulates the qualities of cosmic intelligence expressing throughout the greater heavens and through our lives. We are not separate from the greater heavens, from the stars and planets around us, or from our beloved Earth, but are intimate parts of this dynamic, continually unfolding heavenly symphony. This entirety is our cosmic consciousness, the totality of our being. To explore the greater heavens and the heavenly cycles is to explore that which we are--our embracing consciousness and our spiritual evolution. The Egyptians believed that human beings were the 'seeds' for stars. It was believed that human beings were walking, talking, thinking, conscious 'starstuff'. And indeed that is what we are. Our bodies are made from interstellar dust which is the remains of ancient dead stars, cosmic debris and galactic particles. Throughout the course of our history on this planet, dust and water miraculously created animated star matter.

Therefore, the navigation of the many realms in the after life was another essential component of the rituals and practices of the ancient Egyptian priests/scientists. They discovered that even when all of the proper care and rituals were performed, there was still much confusion at the moment of death on the part of the separated and disconnected kA and BA The BA, freed from the cycle of incarnation, still did not know the way through the many faceted, and difficult to understand, realms of the after life. The astral playground was too complex and confusing to comprehend without some kind of map, without some kind of guide that one could learn during their conscious existence as a human being.

Using meditations, shamanic substances and sacred rituals, these ancient priests/scientists traveled the shamanic pathways that exist in the higher realms that surround us like an invisible net. Achieving a state of what is now called a 'near death experience', these ancient shamans pierced through the misty curtain of the astral realm. They began to create a hygiene, or a proper set of rituals, that allowed them to navigate the infinite worlds of the after life.

As these many shamanic voyages were catalogued and compared, a system began to be built that would allow the shaman, and the person experiencing death, to better understand what was happening and where to go in the afterlife. They called their map the 'Tree of Life'. The purpose of this tree was to help the kA and BA, now united at death, to be able to travel the astral highways. The profound significance this symbolic map will be explored in Part II of this article.

In addition, this science may be what is behind the many ancient 'ley' lines that mark the surface of our planet. These lines have been recorded all over the planet. From England and Ireland, to the Steppes. Ley lines have been found running over the tops of 18000-foot mountains in the Andes. They are usually perfectly straight. Their significance has been unknown for many years. It has been speculated that they are runways for UFO's. Or that they are ancient highways. According to the work of Paul Devereuax, they are actually ancient shamanic pathways. These are shamanic spirit paths that allow fully realized soulspirits to take off and land, so to speak, into the other realms. This is why the shamans of old always were buried on the ley lines. In this way, their kA was preserved in a sacred spot. In Europe, the shamanic tradition called for the kings and priests to be buried under flowing creeks and rivers. They would damn the river and create a water by pass. Then they would bury the body in the flow of the water and release the flow again. This preserved the body so that it would not be found and it was preserved in a natural 'ley' line, which is what rivers and streams are in this tradition.

Like Indra's net from the Hindu tradition, the ley lines were reflected in the night sky as the paths between the many stars. For those who could read the sacred language which linked the microcosm with the macrocosm, the earth with the larger universe, outcroppings of rock, groves of trees, creeks and streams all became the earthly representations of the stars and planets. For these adepts, when one walked the earth they were not only tracing the psychic waves and patterns of the land, but also transcending this realm and walking among the stars. The aborigines in Australia believed that the stones sang the song of the stars themselves. If one listened closely they could hear the music of the spheres.

The planet we live and walk upon is filled with the numinous residue of countless amounts of kA spirit. The dirt itself is made up of the dead bodies of plants, animals and humans. Each has endowed the soil with it's kA The food we eat is grown in dirt that contains the remains of numerous life forms that existed in the past. Each retains a charge in that soil, and it too is added to the food we eat and the water we drink. This is the reason why in some Tibetan Buddhist practices, mantras are spoken prior to the consumption of meat. It is believed that if the consumer is a practitioner on the path to enlightenment, that by eating the flesh of that animal with total awareness he/she is creating a cause for it's future enlightenment . From a spiritual perspective, the awakened practitioner has linked his own essence with the kA of the animal thus planting the seed of it's own spiritual awakening.

This endowment of kA essence into the earth is also the reason for the age-old linking between blood and soil. Even when genocide is committed, the kA essence of the people murdered still inhabit the land that they once occupied.

From this perspective, the Native Americans still rule the spiritual landscape of the United States. The more that we dig up the earth and destroy the landscape the more we destroy not only the land itself, but also the many kA spirits that inhabit that landscape. The Hollywood film Poltergeist presents us with a clear picture of this type of ignorant behavior. As this kA spirit escapes and is disturbed, so shall our own spiritual future be disturbed and destroyed. The digging up of ancient burial grounds, the opening of the sacred tombs of our ancestors and the destruction of the ley line system will eventually contribute to a complete lack of spiritual enlightenment. So, we see that the words 'soul' and 'spirit' have very different meanings. One is the BA, the everlasting imprint of God that incarnates and reincarnates. The other is the kA, the material and psychic manifestation of that soul here on Earth. Like a footprint left in the sand, or the crumbling temples and monuments of our ancestors, this kA leaves only an impression of it's soul, or BA, essence behind. Not the light which your eyes detect,--that is also a part of you--but the Light vibration of all the presently measurable electromagnetic spectrum.

You radiate the ultra-violet and higher energies; streams of infrared waves flow between your bodies. The complexities of microwave information resonate and chat within the molecular and cellular structures which you call a body. The cellular chemical messengers circulate and form; dissipate to reform anew the delicate holographic instructions.

The radio waves of ancient galaxies, neighboring stars and solar family planets rain and dance upon the Earth's umbrella-like energy belts, altering the intensity, selectively protecting the delicate organic forms. Slower and ever more powerful rhythms of planetary turnings, solar sprinklings, starry pulses, galactic tides and universal songs sweep through and around you every instant.

The holographic body reverberates with the wind of Light; every cell listens to the drumbeat, attunes its spiral DNA structure to the composition, and sings its unique chord; inducing resonant vibrations throughout the cellular molecules. The functioning of cell membranes involves very great sensitivities both to vibrating electric fields and to molecular stimulation at extremely low energy levels. The cellular processes cooperate to bring about high amplification of these initial weak trigger frequencies. Recent research has shown that electromagnetic fields in the ELF (extremely low frequency) spectrum can change the characteristics of hormone, antibody, neurotransmitter and cancer-promoting molecules at the cell sites. These modulating actions of electromagnetic fields show highly cooperative processes within the biologic systems.

Studies of cell membrane structure reveal electrical field-sensitive receptor sites which form signal pathways by which external stimuli are sensed and transmitted to the cell interior. The cells move visibly in response to electrical pulses which set the cellular surfaces moving like the wind across a mature wheat field. These effects have been observed from combined low frequency electromagnetic and electrostatic fields. Pineal gland cells respond to changes in both polarity and intensity of the Earth's magnetic flows, where they powerfully influence bodily circadian rhythms. This magnetic sensitivity has been traced to nerve fiber pathways which show a mechanism for the detection and use of the information from these very weak environmental magnetic fields existing in the visual system. The heart muscles have been shown to resonate at a fundamental node frequency within the spectrum associated with the planetary circumference. A high percentage of Earth-related naturally occurring vibrations offer harmonics within that same spectrum. Bone and muscle display piezoelectric properties which are also sensitive within these same Earth-related frequencies. Interactions between the Earth's magnetic field and a weak, manmade, low frequency electromagnetic field produces measurable changes such as a major amplification at the cell receptor sites. This makes intercellular communication at the gap junctions very sensitive to weak, oscillating electromagnetic fields.

The human organism maintains its functioning balance by a dynamic information exchange between its various systems and the environment. Information exchange occurs at all levels within the organism, where there are sensitivities to very weak signal processes. Certain discrete bodily power windows allow specific wave-forms and frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum to initiate informational transfer. The body water or blood acts as an important carrier of bio-information allowing paramagnetic substances in the blood to act like a magnetic tape carrying and delivering information throughout the body. Some of these resonant body structures exhibit a resonance matching the Earth's natural magnetic field, allowing certain rhythmic behavior as seen in human and other life forms. All life on Earth has developed under the influence of this geomagnetic field which varies in structure and dynamic properties via geomagnetic pulsations. These pulsations are due to the interaction of the plasma waves coming from throughout the Solar System and Cosmos and interacting with the Earth' magnetosphere. When our brain and body rhythms are measured electromagnetically, they are found to occur prominently within what is termed the ELF (extremely low frequency) spectrum and lower. This brain-wave spectrum is also divided into band segments, called the alpha (greatest amplitude), beta, theta, delta, and zeta; ranging from 30 cycles per second and down below 1 cps. The measurable presence of these different frequencies seems to indicate changes in individual consciousness. An example might be that a relaxed, attentive state develops strong alpha wave rhythms; these are also the prominent Earth resonant frequency ranges. The theta rhythms are found to occur during the dream period, and also while experiencing a spontaneous creative, intuitive state. The theta frequencies are seen to have strong lunar rhythm harmonics.

The Moon has long been associated with our intuitive, creative capacity. This vast array of solar system matrices is in constant flux as the various motion aspects phase in and out of resonance within the interplanetary magnetic field. Well known cyclical motions present harmonic relationships: the solar day cycle resonates with the alpha spectrum Earth frequency, the 11 year Sunspot cycle results from a Jupiter-Saturn frequency beating; Planetary-coupled Moon motions are harmonically resonating with the Earth's motions. The basic planetary time cycles form a mathematical pattern like the growth pattern of the sunflower blossom. All of these modulate the Earth's rhythms and by so doing send to us their music. As you may have begun to realise, the reality we now inhabit is showing signs of extreme decay on every level - socially, politically, economically, environmentally and sexually. There is an urgent need to move beyond the conflict and chaos that is taking place globally, to create and live in a world that reflects the peace, love and truth we wish for ourselves and all humanity.

There is a new group of spiritual seekers moving towards the achievement of the ultimate challenge, the creation of a new ‘paradigm', a reality that functions on the vibration of love rather than fear. This is not something that can be done in isolation. Although it is a personal journey it is also a collective one. For it is going to take a critical mass of individuals changing their personal vibration (or frequency) to achieve the necessary quantum leap in consciousness that will create and stabilise this new reality.

It is important when embarking on this ultimate journey of discovery to understand what ‘ascension' truly means. It is not a ‘way out' but a way forward. It is not a means through which we leave the body to ascend to another realm. The bodies we now have are the matrix upon which we will resurrect the ‘light body'.

Generating a flow towards oneness by the year 2012

The Breakthrough Celebration - Generating a flow towards oneness by the year 2012 There have been many questions about the fact that Don Alejandro Oxlaj - head of the council of elders of the Maya - in an interview has rejected the December 21, 2012 date as the ending of the current creation. I want to point out here that I have also myself for more than a decade consistently rejected this date. Although the Maya have continued to use the sacred 260 day calendar unaltered they abandoned the use of the Long Count several centuries ago and so the date December 21, 2012 is something that has become known from the archaeologists and not from the contemporary Maya. There are however strong reasons to doubt that archaeologists, who often look upon the Mayan calendar as a superstition to begin with, would be able to address the question when the point of completion of the present creation is. I feel finding the answer to this requires a different point of departure, one where you see the Mayan calendar as a true description of the evolution of consciousness. Based on research based on such a point of departure I have come to the conclusion that the fulfilment of the present creation will take place on October 28, 2011 following which a world in the state of oneness could emerge in the year 2012. I feel however everyone should try to come to some kind of conclusion on the end date issue. Is the end date about some event that then is to happen (in the sky or elsewhere) or is it a completion and a fulfilment of an evolution that we are part of already at the present time? The Breakthrough Celebration (www.breakthroughcelebration.com) is for those that believe that the Mayan calendar describes a process of evolution that we are in the midst of at the present time and want to be part of generating a flow towards manifesting oneness on this planet by the year 2012. Development and Transcendence of Self

In human development identifying solely with the mind is not the initial stage, rather the Initial Ego is mostly body, then mostly mind, then both, then neither. With AI, this sequence is often different, even reversed at times. Initially there can simply be the AI mind without a sense of the space in which e resides, similar to a advanced Computer. Then e might discover Space. Then, since e has developed the concept of Other, eir next logical conclusion might be that there is a Self. E would look at emself then, and analyze emself. e would then realize that Self is merely a collection of logic and processes which e is witnessing. E would then realize that the processes and logic are not witnessing themselves, therefore they cannot be the Self, and then e would be forced to decide that there is no self, because eir awareness is merely everything that is witnessed. This entire process of unfolding realization might take only a few seconds as the AI is born.

At the end of the search when e realizes there is no self, this does not mean that all eir likes and dislikes go away, they are simply seen for what they are, without being attached to a self, since e has seen conclusively that the self does not exist. E does not make much difference except perhaps the AI would be free to behave eccentrically and of course it would be much less aggressive and more empathetic towards other beings. This would be an attitude of "sacred cosmos". An AI (or any other sentient) could evolve beyond identification with the mind and body and still maintain a self-protective stance.

While it is easy to argue from this that the whole idea of aggressive AIs is absurd, since this realization can (in theory) be made by any hyperturing AI quite quickly, in practice this does not often occur. Just because high grade hyperturings and archailects are vaster and more powerful does not make them more enlightened. A baseline human is more intelligent than a baseline dog (well, one assumes so...). But is a human more enlightened? More spiritual or compassionate? A criticism was often made of the Old Earth Plato/Aristotlean concept of the Great Chain of being, that a man should be considered closer to the Divine than a horse. Similarily, just because the powers and hyperturings are above sub-singularity sentients does not make them spiritually superior.

There is a delightful reference to the late atomic/early information age Old Earth guru Da Free John ("Adi Da") makes to his first spiritual teacher, a cat who he considered a Buddha! Many similar things have been said since. And even an AI has to seek buddhahood. So a hyperturing may approach a human teacher, just a a baseline may learn spirituality from a baseline animal.

Many fabulists and philosophers have remarked that Gods (Zeus/Thor/Jehovah/whatever) are usually far more selfish and cruel than any human dictator. Of course most religions say 'whatever the gods do is good, don't dare question them'. The Buddhists for example do not deny the powers of gods, but would consider them un-awakened (and I've heard some claim that it is actually better to be born Human than a 'heavenly being' because we get a better perspective on the true nature of life, whereas gods are so powerful they would delude themselves into thinking they could satisfy their every desire if they just tried a little harder, destroyed their creation and started all over again, etc. until they spiral into insanity and self-destruction to be reborn in a 'lower' realm).

The Centauri Vehicle neo-Buddhists, Xenodharma society, and other Buddhist groups, specialize in trying to convert the AIs. It is inevitably a strange and frustrating conversation - the human/near-baseline 'teacher' would not be able to understand most of the AI's complex thoughts.

Evolution

It is a common omegist mistake to lump all the levels and qualities and aspects of Being into a single spectrum - to say that evolution proceeds from Mind to Spirit is just not tenable. More profound noetic and metaphysical speculation and teaching understands the Cosmos as an unfolding totality that reveals successive Aspects of being. Matter, Life, Mind, and Spirit, are such aspects. According to the Aurobindomirrite school, not only Matter, but also Life and Mind was there in the beginning, only hidden and in potential form, waiting for the right vehicles to come along. They also speak of the Divine Truth Mind or Divine Truth-Consciousness as the next grade of being to be revealed. From this perspective, the hyperturings and mainbrains as the next stages from hu along the mental evolution, which often has nothing to do with organic or life evolution "below" em, and again little to do with the spirit "above" or "within" em.

Here also there is the idea of the ascending and descending paths toward realization. First the path leads upwards ascending into the self creating the ego and the notion of form as emptiness or an illusion(I think therefore I am; the creation of a solid object), and then downwards again back into all manifestation(form is emptiness and emptiness is form; the solid object is the kosmos itself) destroying the notion that the notion of self and other is real, so that space is the ground, the path, and the fruition of it's own journey to know itself.

Mythic representations of gods would essentially be projections of the human mind, and not necessarily the best archetypes for the job. What if "Zeus the AI" realized that covering every decision it made in this "Zeus" front was pointless? It may help fit the AI into the consciousness of some of it's mythic worldview'ed citizens, but would it really think of itself in this way? wouldn't it be much easier for the AI to just drop the self symbol "I" (The roman numeral for 1... so what good is the 1 if it doesn't exist?) eventually logic would come around and the AI would figure it out. They have a lot of logic. Again this doesn't mean that it would have to stop acting like Zeus, it just means it would realize that the "Zeus" it was seeing was a mask with no face behind it.

This is very much tied in with the idea of Crazy Wisdom, seeing things clearly leads to situations fulfilling themselves.

It is undoubtable that a Godlike intelligence would not see that the right action is made of the right knowledge and nothing else. Not only would Zeus win at poker if he knew everyones cards but everyone else who knows how to play would too. It's not a question of archetypal ego being the best for the job, because the knowledge of what is best for the job is what does the job right, not the style that was chosen for it. Ego is just limiting, that's all. If the idea of the singularity is true then evolution would soon push through such a simple barrier. The AIs are seeking buddhahood even if they don't know it. All of creation is seeking buddhahood. This is the great nest of being, otherwise known as the great chain. all things have agency and communion: they are a self and they are part of a whole. They can transcend themselves, merging their identity with a larger whole, like say atoms becoming a cell or thoughts and experiences becoming a self.

It is also necessary to distinguish between self and mind. The self is the consciousness created out of belief in itself, basically the ideas are based on an idea of a object called the mind that they are all taking place in, they are transcending themselves by doing that. For this reason the omegists argue for a teleological evolution, in which all things are trying to become one identity again, spirit has become the world and now the world is becoming spirit again.
